Local processing
No accounts, ads or analytics are included. Rules, interface names and preferences are processed on this Mac. Routing settings are also stored in the network configuration managed by macOS.
Network traffic
The extension transiently handles TCP/UDP bytes solely to forward them to the destinations chosen by your apps. RouteBar does not install a TLS interception certificate, decrypt HTTPS or record payloads. Destination services, DNS resolvers and network operators may receive the same traffic and source addresses involved in normal network access; their policies apply.
Connection events and diagnostics
The latest 300 events are kept in extension memory: domain or destination IP, rule snapshot and ID, connection ID, protocol, scenario, selected interface, timestamp, byte counts, result and error description. The window caches its latest snapshot. Clear the log in Activity; ending a provider process discards its memory. The app writes event types, without destinations or payloads, to macOS diagnostic logging. System diagnostics follow your macOS settings.
Connection discovery
Opening Connection discovery while routing is running starts metadata collection automatically. Up to 500 recent application/target/port/protocol groups are held in memory, without payloads. Leaving the page or pausing stops collection. Application names, signing identities and executable locations are verified locally where possible. Application conditions you explicitly add to rules are saved with the configuration and included in exports; transient audit tokens are not saved. Proxies and VPNs may hide original applications and targets.
Local storage and exports
Rules, drafts, scenarios and preferences are stored locally. Traffic statistics keep the last 24 hours and the complete current local day; older records are automatically removed while collection runs. Statistics contain interface names, time and byte counts, not destinations or content. Imports and exports access only the file or location you select. Full configuration exports contain scenarios, rules, drafts, interface names and preferences, excluding traffic statistics and connection records. You control where exports are stored, including cloud-synced folders.
Background operation
After you start routing, background mode keeps routing and statistics running when you quit. To stop on quit, select app-only mode in Settings after stopping routing. Routing does not start automatically.
Your controls
You can stop routing, delete rules, clear connection records and delete exported files. To remove the network extension, disable or remove it in System Settings. Local rules and connection records are not sold or shared with third parties.

About this website
This policy page is hosted on Cloudflare. Delivering and protecting the website may involve processing request information such as your IP address. This is separate from RouteBar’s local connection records. This page itself adds no analytics scripts, cookies or external fonts.

Sending an email shares your email address and the content you choose to send with support and the email providers involved. Rules, destinations and diagnostics are not automatically attached. Support cannot remotely access or erase records stored only on your Mac.
